Infection Control Annual Statement

Purpose

This annual statement will be generated each year in January in accordance with the requirements of The Health and Social Care Act 2008 Code of Practice on the prevention and control of infections and related guidance. It summarises:

  • Any infection transmission incidents and any action taken (these will have been reported in accordance with our Significant Event procedure)
  • Details of any infection control audits undertaken and actions undertaken
  • Details of any risk assessments undertaken for prevention and control of infection
  • Details of staff training
  • Any review and update of policies, procedures and guidelines

 

Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Lead

Our infection prevention and control lead is our Practice Nurse, Serena Williams.

 

Infection transmission incidents (Significant Events)

During the last 12 months the practice has not had any infection transmission incidents to report.

Infection Prevention Audit and Actions Taken

  • Hand Hygiene Audit
  • COSHH Audit
  • PPE Audit
  • Cleaning Audit

These audits were undertaken within the practice and action plans completed following each audit.

 

Risk Assessments

During the last 12 months a COSHH risk assessment has been completed.

 

Training

All staff have received annual training in infection prevention and control and this training is provided by Blue Stream Academy on line learning suite for GP Practices.

Policies

Fairfield Surgery has a comprehensive Infection Control Policy that is reviewed annually each year.

It is the responsibility of everyone to be familiar with this Statement and their roles and responsibilities under this.
